Doubleheader Weekend Set to Kick Off August at Merrittville Speedway

THOROLD, ONTARIO – Merrittville Speedway is set for an action-packed doubleheader weekend as Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing returns to the Thorold oval to kick off the month of August with two exciting nights of racing.

The weekend begins on Saturday, August 1, as Niagara Employment Help Centre presents another exciting night of the Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series, with the stars and cars of Merrittville Speedway continuing their chase towards the 2026 track championships.

The excitement continues on Civic Holiday Monday, August 3, as Baron Roofing presents the 5th Annual Canadian Grand Nationals. The headline attraction will be a 50-lap feature for the Commercial Auto Electric 358 Modifieds, with an added bonus courtesy of Tom Cosgrove, giving the region’s top Modified competitors even more incentive to battle for victory.

Fans will also have the opportunity to win $1,000, as one lucky spectator will walk away with the grand prize during the evening’s festivities. Following the final checkered flag, Firemaster Productions will light up the Niagara sky with a spectacular fireworks display, providing a fitting conclusion to a memorable holiday event.

For the Canadian Grand Nationals on Monday, pit gates will open at 5:00pm, grandstands will open at 5:30pm, and racing will begin at 7:00pm.
