Mother Nature Claims Merrittville's Season Opener
THOROLD, ONTARIO (April 18, 2026) … Due to high winds and an unfavorable forecast, Merrittville Speedway management pulled the plug on the 75th Anniversary Season Opener scheduled for Saturday, April 18.
With sustained winds expected throughout the day and conditions not conductive to safe racing for competitors and fans alike, track management made the decision in the interest of safety.
Merrittville will return to action on Saturday, April 25 as Lococo’s presents the 2026 Spring Sizzler featuring the Southern Ontario Sprints plus the Commercial Auto Electric 358 Modifieds, RONA/Doidge Mod Lites, Hoosier Stocks, and the All-Star Concrete 4 Cylinders. Pit gates will swing open at 4:00pm, with grandstands opening at 5:30pm, with racing beginning at 7pm.
