Carleton Comes Through for Win Number Two at Merrittville

THOROLD, Ontario (August 23rd, 2025) … On top of a high flying Pro Rider Freestyle Motocross show, racing action delivered equal thrills on Service Master Niagara night at Merrittville Speedway. St. Catharines, ON’s Fred Carleton won the Commercial Auto Electric 358 Modified feature. Cody McPherson of St. Catharines, ON continued his winning ways in the Semenuk’s ESSO/Baron Roofing DIRTcar Sportsman feature. Tyler Winger of Ridgeway, ON extended his points lead with a win in the Rona Doidge Modified Lites. St. Catharines, ON native Rob Murray won in the Hoosier Stocks while Ken Hair of Niagara Falls, ON won in the All Star Concrete 4 Cylinders.

Brian Page ands Fred Carleton lead the field to green in the Commercial Auto Electric 358 Modified feature, with Carleton jumping out to an early advantage. The race's first caution came at lap 14 when Gary Lindberg was turned around by James Friesen, which sent both drivers to the back. Carleton controlled the restart ahead of Pete Bicknell, who was under constant pressure from Darrell Farraway. Back to back cautions on lap 27 and 28, gave Bicknell the shot to take the lead from Carleton. However, Bicknell lost control of the lead after the restart, eventually fading back through the field after getting off the groove. Carleton was able to hold off Farraway over the closing laps to claim his second win of the season. Justin Sharp, Brad Rouse and Shayne Pierce rounded out the top five.

Doug Walsh Jr. and Madyson Rouse led the field to green and exchanged the lead on the opening lap with Walsh eventually prevailing. Nigel Pendykoski was able to track down Walsh after starting fifth, taking the lead on lap 11. The first caution came at lap 13 when Austin Seburn spun in turn four. Noah Mamo took second on the restart from Walsh, trying to give chase to Pendykoski. A multi car incident set up a restart with five laps to go, bringing Cody McPherson into the mix, restarting in third. McPherson passed Mamo on the first set of corners before Curtis Friesen slowed with four to go to add another caution. Pendykoski was no match for the now official track champion Cody McPherson, who clinched the title by starting the feature. McPherson scored his 12th win of the season.

Josh Sliter led early after starting fourth in the Rona Doidge Modified Lites feature. He had gained a nearly two and half second advantage on the field before a caution on lap nine when Shawn Sliter slowed with a flat tire. Two laps later, Chance Kotar went for a solo spin in turns three and four. Sliter continued to lead Tyler Winger and Rob Misener, until a caution on lap 13 when Anthony Scott got turned around by Ryleigh Sliter. Tyler Winger was able to sneak past Sliter on the restart, going on to win his sixth feature win of the season and increasing his points lead for the track championship. Rob Pietz was able to get by Sliter for second in the closing laps, increasing the amount of work Sliter will need to do to take back the championship lead in the division over the final two races of the season.

Dustin Duga and Rob Murray started on the front of the Hoosier Stock race, with Murray taking the top spot in the opening corner. Dave Bailey got to second past Duga on lap three of the feature. However, he could not run down Murray and was passed on lap seven by Kyle Pelrine. Pelrine caught Murray in lap traffic, but Murray wouldn’t budge. Bending but never breaking, Murray was able to extend his lead back out and drive off with his second win of 2025 in the caution free feature race.

The All Star Concrete Four Cylinders began with chaos when before the field could finish the first lap, Hana Rothwell found herself upside down after a multi car incident in turn four. Once the race resumed, Ray Cerenzia paced the field out front. Contact throughout the field led to some damaged vehicles but the yellow flag was never needed. Ken Hair was one of the drivers who suffered damage, as the plastic rear bumper became dislodged while Hair was cruising up the field, reaching second place at the race's half way point. Hair stalked Cerenzia for several laps, eventually making his move to take the lead coming to the white flag. The win was Hair’s sixth of the season, and keeps him within striking distance of points leader Alex Riley
