Victoria Day Doubleheader Weekend Next on Merrittville’s Schedule

THOROLD, ONTARIO (May 12, 2025) … The first weekend doubleheader of the 2025 season will take place over the Victoria Day weekend as Merrittville Speedway will be in action on both Saturday, May 17th and Monday, May 19.

On Saturday, May 17, Rankin Construction and Niagara’s Rankin Cancer Run will present the full Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series featuring the Commercial Auto Electric 358 Modifieds, Semenuk’s Esso/Baron Roofing DIRTcar Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, Allstar Concrete 4 Cylinders, and the Rona Doidge Mod Lites will all be in competition. Saturday’s action will also be the rescheduled Duel on the Dirt home races for both the 4 Cylinders and Hoosier Stocks.

The action picks up on Victoria Day Monday as Niagara Audi presents the program, featuring the Northeast Late Model Alliance, plus a 40-lap 358 Modified race with an Outlaw style redraw, plus Hoosier Stocks and the 4 Cylinders. The Hoosier Stocks will be racing for $1740 to win. The Victoria Day event will conclude with a Fireworks Extravaganza.

Pit gates will open at 5pm, with grandstands opening at 5:30pm, and racing will begin at 7pm. Fans can avoid the lines at the ticket booth on opening day, by purchasing your advance tickets online at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/spring-sizzler-2025-tickets-1257561804209

Originally known as Stephens and Rankin Inc., the company was founded in 1978 by Tom Rankin and Dave Stephens. Rankin Construction has flourished under the direction of Tom Rankin, who has been the sole proprietor since 1991. The Rankin Cancer Run raises much needed funding in support of cancer care programs in Niagara. The 2025 run will take place on Saturday, May 24 at Brock University. The event will have both a one kilometer and a five-kilometer route. So far, the Niagara Rankin Cancer Run has brought in over $12 million dollars being donated to numerous local organizations.
