Thorold, Ontario (Sept 12) – “We knew it was coming,” relates Merrittville Kart Race Director David Sim, “with it being the final night … we rushed everything along … we just came up a little short.”

“Towards the end of the features … I could see the storm coming every time I looked towards turn 4,” adds Starter Stephen Sim, “(Merrittville GM) Erica kept us informed … we were just 13 laps short of getting everything in.”

Ron Spatorico got the checkered flag at lap 7 of the scheduled 20 lap Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Senior Medium Main Event as everyone rushed to pack up as the major storm engulfed the Speedway.

The balance of the Original Pizza Logs sponsored program was completed with Gregory Beckett, Brett Senek, Connor Mooradian and Matthew Farnham winning their Burris Tire feature events in the Drummond Home Hardware Garden City auto Complex Novice, RCM Racing Equipment Cassell Manufacturing Junior 1, Ed McPherson Construction Junior 2 and KC Auto Parts Superior PetroFuels Junior Restricted Heavy Divisions respectively.

Colin and Ron Spatorico were declared 2007 Summer Series Point Champions as were Jacob Lutz and Connor Mooradian in the KC Auto Parts Superior PetroFuels Junior Restricted Heavy, Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Senior Medium, RCM Racing Equipment Cassell Manufacturing Junior 1 and Ed McPherson Construction Junior 2 Original Pizza Logs Divisions respectively.

The Overall 2007 Season Point Standings will be announced in the very near future. Merrittville Speedway combines the Spring and Summer Series together to determine overall points after a driver’s three worst finishes are dropped.
