PRIESTLEY AND LUTZ BECOME TWO TIME MERRITTVILLE KART WINNERS – DAUNCE AND SPATORICO EARN FIRST EVENTS

 Thorold, Ontario (May 9) – Blake Priestley had to wait a whole week to start the Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Senior Medium Feature due to the rain showers that put a premature end to Merrittville Speedway’s Kart Season Opener May 1st. 

When the green flag finally dropped on May 8th – Priestley immediately pulled away from the field and by the end of the 20 lap Event – had pulled away to a ½ lap margin of victory.  

The event had a lengthy delay under red flag conditions after a turn 3 incident involving a number of karts. Kaitlyn Quigley was transported to hospital with a broken collar bone and was later released after treatment. 

The entire Merrittville Speedway Karting Community wishes Kaitlyn a speedy recovery. 

In the regularly scheduled Burris Tire Feature Events – Priestley and RCM Racing Equipment Cassell Manufacturing Junior 1 Driver Jacob Lutz became two time 2007 Winners in their respective divisions. 

In other Original Pizza Logs divisional action, Kevin Daunce and Colin Spatorico each won their first events of the new season in the Ed MacPherson Construction Junior 2 and KC Auto Parts & Superior PetroFuels Junior Restricted Heavy Classes respectively. 

The Drummond Home Hardware Garden City Auto Complex Novice Division continues to surprise as 18 young racers competed in their heats. Jordan Cosco, Jesse Cassell, Mackenzie St. Jean, James Price and Tristan Jeffrey won their respective heats. The Novice Division will continue to compete in heats until Merrittville officials deem they are ready for Feature Events. 

Kart Racing continues Tuesday May 15. Gates open at 5:00 with racing beginning at 7:00. Grandstand admission is free.
