Thorold, Ontario (July 4) Performance Manufacturing and Slack Performance
Karts presented the Burris Tire 50 Twenty Five at Merrittville Speedway July 2nd and when the
50 lap Event for the Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Senior Medium Division took the
checkered flag – Nick Herriven was the big winner – earning a $500 US payday.
In the RCM Racing Equipment Junior 1 Division the Jake Lutz show continued as
the Tuesday night point leader won his 7th straight feature in as many starts.
In Ed MacPherson Construction Junior 2 action – Ben Werth came home the
winner while Colin Spatorico earned the KC Auto Parts Superior PetroFuels Junior Restricted
Heavy Feature.
The Drummond Home Hardware Novice Division ran two 20 lap features with John
Riley and Joshua Dmytrow earning victories.
The Senior Medium Division once again qualified through a combination of time
trials and heats with Blake Priestley, Bobby D’Ambrosio, Tom Downey, Nick Herriven and Ron
Spatorico the fastest five drivers.
At the drop of the green for the 50 lap event, Tuesday night Point leader
Blake Priestley set the pace right through to the mandatory fuel stop at the half-way point. On
the restart the new leader was Ron Spatorico after Priestley worked on his kart under the red
flag and was relegated to the rear of the field.
Three laps later Jeremy Tuttle took control until Nick Herriven grabbed the
lead after a lap 40 caution. Herriven went unchallenged to the finish with Jamie Wheeler taking
second spot.
Priestley charged back through the field to take third while Kevin Root was
fourth and Ron Spatorico fifth. Lance Yeager, Ryan Susice, Aaron Barker, Chris Lammerts and
Andy Short closed out the top 10.
Jacob Lutz continued his perfect season – leading all 15 lap of the RCM
Racing Equipment Cassell Manufacturing Junior 1 Feature to remain undefeated in 2007. In the
2006 edition of the Performance Manufacturing Slack Karts Special – Lutz flipped his #48 but
this year has dominated the division.
Cody Kott was while Jordan Barnes took third. Blaine Barrow and Matthew
Veihdeffer rounded out the top 5.
The Ed MacPherson Construction Junior 2 Feature was won by Ben Werth with
Connor Mooradian and Alex Blasko as the top 3. Jesse Johnston and Timmy Kott rounded out the
top 5.
The Junior Restricted Heavy 25 lap Feature saw Cori Webber out front before
Collin Smith took control on lap 11. Webber regained the lead on lap 16 until a caution on lap
20. Spatorico regained the lead on the restart and set the pace through to the finish.
Spatorico and Webber were followed by Collin Smith, Dillon MacPherson and
Jake Stefanski.
In the first Drummond Home Hardware Garden City Auto Complex Novice Feature,
Jordan Cosco started on the pole and until Mackenzie St. Jean took control on lap 9. John Riley
was the new leader on lap 11 and cruised to his first win of the season. Tristan Jeffrey was
second while Dylan Culp took third. Early leaders Cosco and St. Jean closed out the top 5.
In the second it was all Joshua Dmytrow who lead the entire event from start
to finish. Dylan Davidson and Gene Gregoric rounded out the top 3 while Alex Riley, Gregory
Beckett and Steven Beckett rounded out the field.
Merrittville Speedway Kart Club Members that attended the Monday Night
Special all received 40 Show Up Points.
Performance Manufacturing and Slack Karts provided Herriven, Lutz, Werth and
Spatorico $25 Contingency Awards for their Feature Wins.
Burris Tire donated a set of tires for a draw to any driver that finished in
the top 5 in any of the Junior or Senior Events and the winner was the driver that finished in
third spot in the Junior Restricted Heavy Feature – Collin Smith.
The Junior Restricted Heavy Division also received bonuses for the top Flat
Head Engines with Dillon McPherson, Jake Stefanski earning an extra $25 and $15 respectively.
