Thorold, Ontario (Tuesday January 22, 2013) – Rick Bellante is in the business of making things move fast.
When the word went out that Merrittville Speedway’s DIRTcar Sportsman Division was in need of a Division Sponsor for the 2013 Season – the St. Catharines businessman accepted the task almost right away with his 15 year old company – Rick’s Delivery.
“We couldn’t have asked for anyone that is more passionate about the sport and the division than Rick,” said (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, “he’s a life long fan … a former Sportsman competitor and remains a car owner .”
Rick’s Delivery is in the business of expediting Automotive Parts and General Freight and serves customers from Detroit Michigan to Buffalo New York, the G.T.A. and across the Niagara Peninsula.
With a fleet of cargo vans and a 6 member Operations Team – Rick’s Delivery provides delivery solutions to meet timelines required by customers. For further information about your next shipment with Rick’s Delivery – call 905-988-3126. “
As a businessman I know the hard work and dedication needed to become successful,” revealed Rick Bellante in an interview taking a minute away from his mobile Blackberry Office, “I’ve experienced that in recent years in all the Bicknell and Williamson families and staff at Merrittville have done for local racing … I am happy to help and real excited about the new season!”
Bellante literally grew up at the race track – attending races since he was 5 years old with his dad Gabe who himself has not missed an event since the first season in 1952. Years later at the age of 34, the younger Bellante would give up his seat in the grandstands for one in a Sportsman. “I had so much fun as a fan but I just had to experience firsthand the fun of racing,” remembered Bellante now 40, “with no previous experience it was a real eye opener but it was a great 4 years1” One night he will always remember is May 23rd 2009 when he won the Sportsman Feature. “Growing up … my two favorite drivers were Davey Moore and Harvey Hainer,” admitted Bellante, “and that’s where my number 62 came from … combining the two wall of famers numbers.”
Is it maybe just an coincidence that Bellante’s increased involvement comes as Merrittville Speedway is preparing for it’s 62nd season? Bellante quickly went from being a driver to a car owner for Greg Panunte and the duo are preparing for their 3rd season together in 2013. Panunte earned his first Divisional Title in 2010 and is a multi-time David Chevrolet King of the Crates Mini-Series Champion. “I’ve made a lot of great friends in the sport and one of the first was Greg,” added Bellante,” I had my fun as a driver … when it came time to help him out – I was happy to keep him in a car – it was an exciting step back then and this new one with the division is something I look forward to as well … I just love racing!”
In a little more than 13 weeks and counting down, Merrittville Speedway’s Rick’s Delivery Sportsman Division will kick off the 2013 season as part of the Seaway Mall Spring Sizzler that also features the Bobcat of Hamilton 358 Modifieds and the Patriot Sprint Tour – all on Saturday April 27th.
