When Merrittville Speedway’s Seaway Mall Race Car Show closed earlier this month … Race Fans and Race Teams alike could almost see the start of the Thorold facility’s 62nd Season.
Saturday April 27th … See it … Smell it and make your WAY to the Seaway Mall Spring Sizzler featuring the Patriot Sprint Tour … the Bobcat of Hamilton 358 Modifieds and the Rick’s Delivery Sportsman.
Pit Gates open for the Seaway Mall Spring Sizzler at 3 PM with the Front Gates swinging open for the first time of the Season at 5:30. Showtime is at 7 PM.
“The Seaway Mall offers the region an unparalleled shopping experience,” reveals (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, “and for race fans … April 27th is sure to be an unparalleled racing experience … through the Sprint Cars … to the Modifieds and Sportsman – each race team will be looking to kick off their seasons with exciting action!” “
Since race fans enjoyed seeing the Race Cars up close during their stay with us,” reveals Seaway Mall’s Mike Belcastro, “we have been anticipating seeing them in action on the track as much as anyone.”
The Spring Sizzler kicks off the 11th Season for the Patriot Sprint Tour – the first of 9 Events in Canada with a separate Series for races held in Canada and the United States in 2013.
Merrittville Fans may remember the 2012 PST Champion Scott Kreutter from when he competed Saturday Nights in a 358 Modified. The Alden, NY driver lists as a career highlight his first Sprint Car Win which came at Merrittville in 2009.
63 different drivers earned PST Points in 2012 and it should be quite a field for fans of Sprint Cars with Bryan Howland and Chuck Hebing looking to dethrone Kreutter. The three drivers finished 1-2-3 last season – separated by just 14 points.
The field should include drivers such as first time Ohsweken Corr/Pack Sprint Car Champion Chris Steele, Glenn Styres, Travis Cunningham, Mikey Kruchka and a host of others from both sides of the border.
Steele will likely see lots of action on the night with the Bobcat of Hamilton 358 Modifieds scheduled for their first 35 lap event of the season.
The Rick’s Delivery Sportsman Division round out the action with their initial 25 lap feature.
