Thorold, Ontario (July 2) Prior to when Merrittville Speedway’s Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Drivers pay tribute to their fans with a rain-delayed Autograph Night Saturday July 4^th – the Thorold facility and Modern Corporation Open Wheel Lite Driver Adam Leslie will pay tribute to Canada’s fallen soldiers.

"When we saw Adam’s tribute that took over his complete Lucas Oil # 15,” remembered (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “we were quite proud of his gesture.”

Leslie’s car lists the Canadian soldiers that have been killed in action – most notably local heroes – Warrant Officer Dennis Brown and Corporal Tyler Crooks.

Leslie was coached hockey by Crooks when younger and upon his death while serving his country in Afghanistan came up with the design to honor him and his fellow fallen heroes.

“We first saw the car on Adam’s blog Speed Talk,” adds Bicknell, “and he raced it back on May 2^nd … we knew it was special and were able to put together a tribute at the track in honor of Canadian troops … and we can’t forget our American race fans and teams and the sacrifices made by US Service men and women as well.”

Just before the Autograph Session where all of Merrittville’s Drivers bring their cars to the front stretch to meet their fans – Leslie will come out on his own and will be joined by reservists from the Lincoln & Welland Regiment as well as the Brown and Crooks Families.

The RK Shaver Chartered Accountant Night will start at 7:00 PM with the gates opening at 5:30.
