Thorold, Ontario (June 23) For the second time of 2009 the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Event at Merrittville Speedway was rain delayed after overnight rain that continued during the day postponed Ontario Environmental Safety Network’s Saturday June 20th Race Card. 

“We are happy to announce that we have been able to secure a new date,” reveals (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “the Lucas Oil ESS A Main has been added to Saturday September 12th’s event … and the deal still holds … Boston Pizza Rain Checks from May 30th will still be good for a $5 Discount on the new date.” 

With 30 Sprint Cars through their Car Mate Custom Built Trailers Heats May 30th – a major storm system had delayed the KSE Racing Products B Main, the Best Western Cairn Croft Hotel/Cobra Motorhomes Dash and Lucas Oil A Main until Saturday June 20th. 

The middle part of the J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Tripleheader Weekend – now has the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints joining the Rose Webber Memorial International Dwarf Car Classic that features the best Open Wheel Lite and Classic Dwarf Cars from across North America … the Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series and the 50 lap Duel on the Dirt Combined event that has Merrittville’s Hoosier Stocks in the drive for five against the Brighton Speedway Pro Stocks. 

It’s shaping up to be quite an end to the 2009 Season! 

Also on the June 20th race program was the 50 lap Lucas Oil Shoot Out for Sportsman and that event has also been rescheduled. 

“We really only had one option,” adds Bicknell, “Genesee shuts down one week for their County Fair … so in fairness to their drivers – the rain date is Saturday July 25th.” 

The 50 lap event will join the Hingston Metal Fabricators Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Event that also features the drawing for the Big Block Grand Marshall for Monday August 3rd’s Trevor Wilkens Memorial Big Block Super DIRTcar Series Event.

The month of June concludes at Merrittville Speedway with Boltworks presenting a 5 Division Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Program – Saturday June 27th plus an Enduro Qualifier accelerated by Niagara College – all on Pillers $1.00 Hot Dog Night in the Grandstand.
