THOROLD Ontario (May 7)
Race fans and race teams alike have seen their
favorite Southern Ontario and Western New York Race
Tracks open for the new season or can’t wait until
they do.
Drivers are starting to
accumulate points – with the goal to have the most at
the end of the season come September.
For the third straight
season – the Lucas Oil 358 Modified Shoot Out
presented by Dirt Track Digest.com however will reward
the driver that has the least amount of points.
The unique series will
fire off it’s first event at the Merrittville Speedway
– Monday May 19 with a 50 lap Financial Care Group
Main Event.
“The Shoot Out showcases
our local drivers in a very unique way,” relates
Merrittville GM Erica Bicknell, “there’s nothing else
like it … while our drivers battle for top spot in our
Dirt Weekly Racing Standings Saturday Nights trying to
earn the most points … in the Lucas Oil Shoot Out –
they are trying to be on the low end.”
Last season, second
generation driver Jeff McGinnis of Ransomville NY took
home the 358 Modified Title in his rookie season
besting 41 other drivers in what was a 5 race series.
“Once again local race
fans saw some awesome events at each track,” informs
DirtTrackDigest.com’s Adam Ross, “local Dirt Racing is
what we’re all about – we’re excited again to see how
it all unfolds … will there be a new champion again
this year?.”
Each Lucas Oil Shoot Out
offers the Event Winner a single point with two for
second, three for third and so on down the line to
thirty for 30th.
Once Merrittville’s May
19th Event is in the books, the series heads to the
Ransomville Speedway for the National Maintenance
Contracting Corporation 50 lap Event – Friday May
23rd.
After a month lay-off
the series looks to Sunday June 22nd and the
Humberstone Speedway for a 50 lap Event presented by
Tianna’s Jewellry.
The second Merrittville
visit is set for Saturday July 12th when Lucas Oil and
the Merrittville Speedway Reunion Committee present
the 50 lap Jerry Winger Memorial – one of many
highlights of the annual Nostalgia Night that
celebrates 57 seasons in 2008.
Next it’s back to
Ransomville Speedway for the Mark Cerrone Inc. & WLVL
1340 presentation of the Mark Cerrone Memorial Friday
July 18th.
The Shoot Out will make
it’s only visit to the Ohsweken Speedway Friday August
8th for the ESSO Speedway Variety 50 lap Main Event.
The 2008 Lucas Oil Shoot
Out will conclude Sunday August 17th at the
Humberstone Speedway when Brian’s Tire Repair will
present the 50 lap finale.
“It will be definitely a
highlight of our season … hosting the 358 Mod Finale,”
informs (Humberstone Speedway GM) Bob Davidson , “our
fans can’t wait for either of our dates.”
“It’s something all of
our facilities need,” relates Ransomville’s Joel
Friesen, adding, “it brings some new fans and drivers
to all of our tracks … they are highlights of all our
seasons.”
“We’re really looking
forward to this year’s edition,” adds Ohsweken
Speedway’s Glenn Styres, “with the help of Lucas Oil
and Dirt TrackDigest.com … both rookie drivers and
veterans are able to share the spotlight.”
Once again, top Lucas Oil
Shoot Out Drivers will take on the best from the Lucas
Oil Canadian Series during the Benson Auto Parts 358
DIRT Modified Applefest Shootout presented by
imagefactor.ca that also features the Lucas Oil Clash
for Cash – Saturday September 27th.
“Seeing the top drivers
from these two great series compete at Brighton
Speedway in the “Lucas Oil Clash for Cash” will be a
highlight of our ’08 Season” claims Brighton
Speedway’s Mark Rinaldi. “There has been a lot of
cooperation between promoters to put together these
series once again and events but Lucas Oil is a big
part of making this all happen with their support of
dirt racing!”
