Thorold, Ontario (April 9) – It’s 17 days and counting down to Merrittville Speedway’s Baron Roofing Windows and Doors Spring Sizzler 100 – Saturday April 26th.

“Tuesday was just a huge day,” relates (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “we’ve had a good couple of days actually … both with our facilities and the race tracks themselves … it won’t be very long until we open now.”

Race fans and teams following the series of articles that began way back on February 29th may have noticed that there was no daily update yesterday.

“It’s about the only thing that has caused us grief so far,” added Bicknell, “in this day and age … you don’t realize how much we have come to rely on the internet and e mail… until you don’t have them … we’re hoping to be back on line soon!”

For almost 12 hours Tuesday the Saturday Stock Car and Tuesday Kart Tracks were groomed and after raising some dust early in the afternoon were watered and repacked.

“Wednesday’s rain couldn’t have come at a better time too,” revealed (Merrittville co-owner) Pete Bicknell, “it was just enough that we can probably get out again later this afternoon and run it in again … it would be nice if we could get this kind of cooperation during the racing season!”

Both tracks will be put into action this weekend with the first two rounds of the Bicknell Racing Products Chassis Seminar and Pete Bicknell Driving School in addition to on track sessions for the RCM Racing Products Kart School.

Race fans wishing to purchase 2008 Reserved Grandstand Season Tickets can now do so by stopping by the Speedway Office any day including Saturday and Sunday during business hours to pick their favorite seat.

Good for all events on the 2008 Schedule – at $250.00 – it is quite a deal. Season Ticket Holders can come to the races at any time knowing that their seat will be waiting for them and you can just go to the gate as there are no line-ups to purchase tickets.

It gets even better too as all Season Ticket Holders will receive a Complimentary Ticket for the Club Castropignano prepared Past Dinner that takes place prior to Monday August 4th’s Toolneeds presentation of the 16th Annual Trevor Wilkens Memorial which features the 100 lap Advance Auto Parts Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series.

While the Civic Holiday Event is the biggest event of the season … the season will close with the Sportsman featured in their Series Event in September and it all starts with the L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modifieds and the biggest opening event in 56 years at Merrittville Speedway.

Your local Dirt Track is where it’s at and it’s at Merrittville Speedway in just 17 Days – Saturday April 26th.

The star studded 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Series Stars are set to challenge our home town heroes in the Spring Sizzler 100 Super DIRTcar Series presented by Baron Roofing Windows and Doors.

April’s Event also includes a 40 lap event for the Sportsman and a 25 lap Street Stock Open Event

All of these Special Events puts Merrittville Speedway on the map as must see events and it’s just the start of 2008 – you won’t want to miss a single event all season!
