Thorold, Ontario (April
7) – For those of you that look forward to reading the
daily updates as Merrittville Speedway counts down to
the Baron Roofing Windows and Doors Spring Sizzler 100
set for Saturday April 26th – look for the timely
articles to return.
With it down to 19
days until probably the biggest first event of the
season in the Thorold track’s previous 56 Seasons –
Staff are all taking advantage of the first few days
with decent weather.
“We’re in surprisingly
real good shape,” reveals (Merrittville GM) Erica
Bicknell, “we’re getting everything opened up and both
tracks have been worked on … we have to take advantage
of the breaks when we get them.”
Prior to the first
racing event of the new year, Merrittville will play
host to on track sessions remaining for the RCM Racing
Equipment Kart School in addition to 3 rounds of the
Bicknell Racing Products Chassis Seminar and Pete
Bicknell Driving School.
And prior to the 3
Division show at the end of the month – a 5 Dirt
Weekly Racing Series Divisions and any others will
take to the track for Practice – Saturday April 19th.
Race fans may want The
2008 Season took another huge step towards arriving
when the Race Cars and Karts pulled out of the Pen
Centre last evening.
“There was lots of
interest,” relates Bicknell, “Miss Merrittville 2008
Holly Casement and others were busy answering all
kinds of questions all week … and thanks again to all
the Saturday and Tuesday Night Race Teams that
participated.”
For those keeping
score – April 7th is also a huge night for either the
Thorold ASI Group Blackhawks or the St. Catharines
Mountainview Homes Falcons as Game 7 is set for 7:30
at the Thorold Arena.
It’s bound to be a
sell-out so make sure you get there early if you have
plans of attending.
The winner will move
on to the Sutherland Cup Round Robin Series against
Tecumseh and Elmira.
Hopefully Merrittville
Speedway will be able to make a friendly wager with a
few Lucas Oil Open Wheel Lite Drivers from the Elmira
area should the hawks move on to meet the Sugar Kings
– right Wally, Scott and Rick!
Your
local Dirt Track is where it’s at and it’s at
Merrittville Speedway in just 19 Days – Saturday April
26th.
The
star studded 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Series Stars
are set to challenge our home town heroes in the
Spring Sizzler 100 Super DIRTcar Series presented by
Baron Roofing.
April’s Event also includes a 40 lap event for the
Sportsman and a 25 lap Street Stock Open Event.
With
plenty of free camping – it puts Merrittville Speedway
on the map as a must see event and it’s just the start
of 2008 – you won’t want to miss a single event all
season!
