Thorold, Ontario (March
30) – If you are enjoying the Goody’s Cool Orange 500
NASCAR Sprint Cup Race this afternoon from the
Martinsville Speedway – you will see the race winner
presented with a unique trophy.
The Virginia Race
annually awards a custom Grandfather Clock.
For Merrittville
Speedway’s Southern Ontario and Western New Race Teams
– the clock is running out on the start of the season
- it’s 27 days and counting down to Merrittville
Speedway’s 57th Season and the Baron Roofing Windows
and Doors Spring Sizzler – Saturday April 26th.
The clock is also
running down on several opportunities as March is set
to turn into April.
Merrittville Speedway
offers its race teams a $75.00 Driver VIP Pass which
allows the driver entrance to all of his or her
scheduled events. As of Tuesday April 1st – it will be
no longer available.
For crew members – the
2008 Membership Fee also increases as of April 1st as
the $50.00 fee increases to $75.00 plus tax. The Pass
offers a discount each event to members.
This coming Saturday,
the 2008 Kart Season starts with the RCM Racing
Equipment Kart School will hold the Classroom Session
in the Dipper’s Turn 1 Meeting Facility.
Mandatory for Novice
and new drivers – karters can still sign up.
Also coming up in the
coming weeks is the Bicknell Racing Products Chassis
Seminar and Pete Bicknell Driving School for Stock Car
Divisions.
Tuesday Night and/or
Saturday Night Drivers and Crew Members interested in
participating should contact the Speedway Office for
further information.
The clock will soon
start up at the Speedway Office as it will open for
the season Tuesday April 1st.
The clock is also
running down for the Race Teams that will be
displaying their cars and karts at the Pen Centre.
20 cars and a half a
dozen karts are set to take over the aisles from March
31st to April 6th.
Race fans can get
their 2008 Merrittville Schedule Cards and other
information concerning the coming season.
Enduro Rules will be
available and the time is right to start on your car
as the first Konzelmann Estate Winery Enduro Qualifier
is set for Monday May 19 when the Financial Care Group
hosts Monday Night Madness.
After the Race Car
Show closes at the Pen – schedules will be available
at the Speedway Office during business hours.
Race fans looking for
Season’s Tickets can also visit the track in advance
of the season and pick their seat – which is good for
all events – including the Baron Roofing Windows and
Doors Spring Sizzler 100 – that will feature the 100
lap 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Series Opener –
Saturday April 26th.
Time is also running
out for Five Star Racing Products as they are
preparing for their first Open House and Part Swap –
Saturday April 12th. Lucas Oil Open Wheel Lite Drivers
interested in a spot should call 905-688-9005.
The Major League
Baseball Season is set to open and the infamous song
‘Take Me out to the Ballgame’ celebrates its 100th
Anniversary.
Race fans of all ages
are surely waiting to hear the words … ‘Take me out to
the Race Track!’
Your
local Dirt Track is where it’s at and it’s at
Merrittville Speedway in just 27 Days – Saturday April
26th.
The
star studded 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Series Stars
are set to challenge our home town heroes in the
Spring Sizzler 100 Super DIRTcar Series presented by
Baron Roofing Windows and Doors.
April’s Event also includes a 40 lap event for the
Sportsman and a 25 lap Street Stock Open Event.
With
plenty of free camping – it puts Merrittville Speedway
on the map as a must see event and it’s just the start
of 2008 – you won’t want to miss a single event all
season!
