Thorold, Ontario
(March 18) – With Briggs & Stratton Corporation
celebrating its centennial anniversary in 2008, the
Merrittville Speedway Kart Club is proud to announce a
renewed partnership with the Milwaukee Wisconsin based
Briggs & Stratton Motorsports Division.
“With the transition
of our Junior Restricted Heavy Division to the new
Animal overhead valve motor last year and the plan for
our the Senior Mediums to move the same way in 2009,”
reminded new Kart Race Director Paul Klager, adding,”
we needed to work close with Briggs & Stratton’s
Racing Manager David Klaus and they have committed to
providing two brand new Animal Engines for the fall
banquet.”
Klager further
commented, “I have great respect for David and the
hard work that he has done in the past with the
traditional Raptor motors as well as the support our
program is going to need over the next few years … his
industry knowledge and detailed information provided
in regards to where Briggs & Stratton is at today and
tomorrow has helped us make sound decisions for the
future.”
At the Club
Castropignano hosted Kart Weekly Racing Series Awards
Banquet this fall, the traditional Elimination Draws
for each division will be boosted by the Animal
Engines as top prizes for both the Superior PetroFuels
Junior Restricted Heavy and the Philbrick Farm &
Garden Stock Medium Divisions.
To be eligible for the
awards, drivers from each division must be valid 2008
Member Drivers and must be in attendance at the
banquet.
“Since the fall I have
been diligently working on increasing our Membership
Rewards program,” relates Klager, “for this coming
season … and for the years to come.”
Klager also announced
after researching a rules meeting question concerning
rods and the Junior Restricted Heavy Animal Engine
that for 2008, a Stock Briggs & Stratton rod must be
used for Junior Restricted competition.
NO aftermarket ARC,
Williams or any other manufactured billet aluminum rod
will be allowed for competition. Tech officials will
be checking periodically throughout the season in
order to ensure this rule is enforced.
Philbrick Farm &
Garden Equipment located at 3315 King Street in
Vineland is the area’s authorized Briggs & Stratton
Motorsports Centre.
