Thorold, Ontario (February 25)
Returning Dirt Weekly Racing Series Drivers from Merrittville Speedway’s 2007
Season are reminded that the deadline to reserve their parking spot for the
coming season is March 1st, 2008.
“As soon as Speedweeks finish up
at Daytona,” says (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell, “and our Lucas Oil Open
Wheel Lites return from their Winternationals at East Bay … our season is not
all that far away.”
For those that are unable to visit
the Winter Office during business hours leading up to the final day – the first
day of March also marks the return to summer hours for Bicknell Racing Products
– which is home to the Thorold Showplace during the off season.
Bicknell Racing Products is
located in St. Catharines Ontario at 117 Cushman Road and will now be open
Saturdays from 9 Am to 12 Noon until the fall. BRP and Merrittville Speedway
Representatives can be reached at 905-685-7223.
“Although many of them are drivers
moving to other divisions,” informs Bicknell, “ we have an overwhelming number
of rookies and they will all need their Pit Parking Spots … after March 1st …
Drivers that do not have their VIP Passes will loose their parking spots.”
2008 is a Leap Year on the
calendar and a rare February 29th is the 57th day until the 57th Season Opener.
“Race fans and teams alike will
surely want to visit our web site often,” adds Bicknell, “the countdown to
green and the 2008 Spring Sizzler is on … we’re planning to provide 57 reasons
to keep in touch …. from info on the schedule to news on our new and returning
race teams … sponsors and more.”
The 2008 Season will begin with a
Merrittville-style Daytona 500 version of a kick off as the L. St. Amand
Enterprises 358 Modifieds will be in the spotlight when the Advance Auto Parts
Super DIRTcar Series pays a visit Saturday April 26th for a 100 lap event that
also opens that 2008 Series.
The Baron Roofing & Siding Event
will also play host to a 40 lap Sportsmen Special in addition to a 25 lap
Street Stock Open.
Before the action takes to the
track however – 4 Race Teams from each of the DWRS Divisions – the 358
Modifieds, Original Pizza Logs Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, Lucas Oil Open Wheel
Lites and the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders are all preparing to take over the
Pen Centre the week of March 31st – and that is what will lead off the Count
