NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario
(January 26th) A capacity crowd greeted Lucas Oil’s Steve Snowden for the
unveiling of the 3rd annual Lucas Oil Shootout. The 2008 Modified and Sportsman
schedules were announced with some new twists that are sure to keep everybody
excited about the upcoming season.
Presenters Adam Ross and Clinton Geoffrey kicked off the Press Conference with
a season ending review of the 2007 Lucas Oil Shootout. In the Sportsman ranks,
71 teams participated with Chad Chevalier edging out Don Spatorico by a scant
one point. Chevalier was able to fend off Spatorico’s remarkable 3 wins with 5
top fives and a win of his own. Both driver’s competed fiercely with each other
throughout the 2007 campaign with the utmost respect that had the fans on their
feet for all 5 races. We look forward to seeing more of the same in 2008.

42 Modified teams participated with rookie Jeff McGinnis winning the Modified
portion of the Lucas Oil Shootout. Bolstered on the strength of great finishes
at Ransomville, Genesee, and Humberstone, McGinnis was able to stave off the
challenges of defending champion Scott Wood to win by a 3 point margin. Like
the Sportsman, the racing was great in 2007, and more of
this is expected in 2008.
Next on the agenda was reviewing the 2007 Brighton Speedway Applefest.
Merrittville and DIRT Tour standout Mark D’ilario was able to hold off 2007
Genesee Champion Rob Pratt to win the Sportsman classic. The win was the
hi-light of the 2007 season for Mark, allowing the Challenge Cup to be brought
home to Merrittville Speedway.
After recognizing the 2007 Champions, the 2008 schedules were announced. In
2008, the Sportsman will compete 5 times at 5 tracks. The Modifieds will
compete 7 times in 2008 with 2 races at Merrittville, Ransomville, and
Humberstone, and one event at Ohsweken.

The final order of business for the day was drawing the "Golden Passes" for the
Sportsman and Modified classes. Each winner is to receive 2 passes for each

Ransomville Speedway, and veteran campaigner Fred Carleton who calls
