Merrittville Speedway Releases 2024 Schedule

THOROLD, ONTARIO (January 31, 2024) … The 73rd season of racing at the Merrittville Speedway is right around the corner. The schedule is jam-packed with events for every race fan, and a filled schedule of events for the Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series, featuring the Commerical Auto Electric 358 Modifieds, the Semenuk's Esso/Baron Roofing & Siding DIRTcar Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, Rona Doidge Mod Lites, and Vansickle Pet Valu/PV on the Lane 4 Cylinders.

On Saturday, March 30, Dube Realtors presents the annual Easter Egg Hunt, featuring activities for the whole family! Times are available by checking out the Merrittville Speedway Facebook page.

Cars will hit the track for the first time for Test, Tune, and Inspection on Saturday, April 13. Gates will open at 12 noon and cars will be on the track beginning at 6pm. The Spring Sizzler will take place on Saturday, April 20 featuring the first of four visits by the Southern Ontario Sprints. The SOS will be joined by the 358 Modifieds, Hoosier Stocks, and 4 Cylinders. The 73rd Season Opener will be on April 27.

“May the 4th be with You” as it will be Star Wars Night at Merrittville, featuring a Star Wars costume contest. May 4th will also feature the Duel on the Dirt Home Track event #1 for both the Hoosier Stocks and 4 Cylinders. Saturday May 11th will feature a full card of racing. Victoria Day Weekend will once again see the traditional doubleheader weekend with racing on Saturday and Monday. May 18th will feature the UMP/Canadian Modifieds with a visit by Ken Schrader and the Bike Giveaway. Monday May 20th will be the 10th running of the Brian Stevens Memorial, a 44-lap event for the 358 Modifieds with the Pole Dash. The Northeast Late Model Alliance will be on hand as well as Hoosier Stocks, Mod Lites, and 4 Cylinders. May 25th will feature the Best Appearing Dog Contest and the second home race for the 4 Cylinders as part of the Duel on the Dirt.

Saturday June 1 will be a night to remember, as we remember “Drivin’ Ivan” with the Ivan Little 61 for the 358 Modifieds, paying $6,100 to win. The DIRTcar Sportsman will be featured in the Western Region race for the Sportsman DIRTcar Series paying $4,000 to win, and the Hoosier Stocks Duel on the Dirt Home Track Event #2 paying $2,000 to win. More on this event will be released in the coming weeks. Family Autograph Night will take place on June 8, as the Wall of Fame Inductions take place on June 15, featuring the Jerry Winger Memorial for 358 Modifieds, and Al Willard Memorial for the DIRTcar Sportsman. The NRVRS Vintage Cars, Mod Lites and 4 Cylinders will be on the card. June 22 will be the Gary Cunningham Memorial for the Southern Ontario Sprints, plus Toonie Hotdogs and the first School Bus Race of the Season. The month will end on June 29 for the Schools Out and Canada Day Celebration featuring the Bobcat of Hamilton Weekly Racing Series, Fireworks, and the second Western Region race for the Sportsman DIRTcar Series.

Entering the month of July, July 6th will be the Hot Tub Giveaway, $2.00 soft serve ice cream at Merrittville Big Scoop, and a death-defying stunt by Danny Zzz. July 13th will feature a full card plus a bone stock small car demolition derby (rules to come). July 20th will feature the SOS Sprints and Vintage Cars. July 27th will be the t-shirt and gift giveaway night and the second School Bus Race.

Civic Holiday Weekend will once again feature a doubleheader weekend, as Saturday, August 3 will be the Bill Willard Sr Stirling Silver Cup for the DIRTcar Sportsman. Monday, August 5 will be the third annual Canadian Grand Nationals, featuring a 73-lap race for the 358 Modifieds, plus Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, Mod Lites, and the 4 Cylinders Duel on the Dirt Combined race. That night will also feature the popular draw for 1000 candies to a young race fan, and $1000 to a lucky race fan. Autograph Night will be on August 10, with the School Bus Race #3 taking place on August 17 with a full show. August 24th will be a full card and PRO Rider FMX Show. The 73rd Season Championship Points Finale will be on August 31st, featuring the 50-lap John Spencer Memorial for the 358 Modifieds.

September 7 will feature the SOS, a 50-lap DIRTcar Sportsman event, Hoosier Stock Duel on the Dirt combined race, Mod Lites IMCA Canadian Championships, and the 4th School Bus race.

On Saturday, September 14th, Merrittville Speedway will once again be the site for Ontario’s ONLY School Bus Demolition Derby, plus 100-lap Enduro and More! Saturday September 21st will feature the second annual Driven Dreams Classic Car show at Merrittville Eats, with a rain date of Sunday, September 22.

The 7th Annual Merrittville Market will take place on October 26th, with the Night of Awards Banquet will conclude the season on Saturday, November 16th at John Michaels Conference & Banquet Centre.
